SEGRO awarded Winvic Construction the contract to design, construct and deliver a new 60,000 sq ft facility at their Poyle Business Park, near Heathrow.

The project comprised of the construction of a cargo handling unit, which also incorporated a three storey office building. External areas included service yards, car parking and associated 278 highway works.

Works carried out was as follows:

• Removal of petroleum hydrocarbons.
• Gas protection to building footprint.
• De-watering for drainage an foundations due to high water table.
• Geo-light attenuationt ank.
• 2m pre-cast concrete quickwall to warehouse perimeter.
• Internal pre-cast pits, 2m in depth to accommodate a lateral loading of 33 tonnes.
• 240mm thick concrete slab to accommodate excessive loadings.
• Authorisation permits from BAA Heathrow for crane lifts.
• Surface water discharge consent due to the adjacent river.
• Acoustic enhancements to office elevation.
