The fast-track 25wk programme meant there was no room for error and that a smooth delivery and transition from base build to fit out would be required. An additional £2.5m of enhanced works were also incorporated into the base build programme.

As part of the South Midlands Mail Centre, a further £4.5m worth of fit out work was put out to competition by Royal Mail Group via the OJEU route. After being successful the team went to work, bringing all base build, enhanced work and fit out works into close co-ordination.

Installation of MHE and mail sorting equipment was carried out within the main sorting hall, whilst team pods, management suites changing facilities and catering areas where also installed.
