First Students are Welcomed to their New Homes in the City Centre

City Councillor Jim O’Boyle has today been received on the twenty-third floor of CODE Coventry by luxury accommodation providers CODE Student Accommodation and multidisciplinary main contractor Winvic Construction Ltd, to officially mark the completion of the steel frame of the city’s new tallest building. The event also celebrated the handover of the first 315 bedrooms, gym, laundry and office facilities accommodated in one of the four blocks.

“The Winvic team has proved time and again that they are more than capable of going above and beyond, and we are happy to be able to say we were a key player in Winvic’s growth in the student accommodation sector.”

This delivered phase of the project comprises one 14 storey block and, when completed, there will be four interlocked blocks, of 17, 20 and 23 storeys, making it Coventry’s tallest building with panoramic views across the City. Each of the self-contained student bedrooms will contain a fully fitted kitchen, including fridge, freezer, microwave and integrated oven and hob, and a deluxe designer shower room; tenants will also feel safe in their new homes with the fob entrance system and the installation of CCTV. A further 877 beds, totalling 1,192, a gym, cinema, open plan communal spaces, landscaped rooftop terrace and three ground floor retail units will be handed over by August 2019, ready for a full house in the next academic year.

Winvic’s Director for Multi-room, commented:

“While meeting clients’ visions, practical needs and commercial models are our highest priorities, it is additionally rewarding to be given compliments and approval from other key stakeholders, like Coventry City Council in the case of CODE Coventry.”

“Such praise illustrates that Winvic excels in building relationships and the happy new student residents are evidence of the hard work and passion that the CODE Student Accommodation and Winvic teams have brought to this project.”

Jamie Lewis, Managing Director of CODE Student Accommodation, added:

“The handover of the first 315 bedrooms and other facilities is a landmark in our ambitious scheme and with the first students and parents amazed with the quality, we can’t wait for next summer when CODE Coventry’s 1,192 bedrooms will be complete and let.”

“The Winvic team has proved time and again that they are more than capable of going above and beyond, and we are happy to be able to say we were a key player in Winvic’s growth in the student accommodation sector.”

Coventry City Councillor Jim O’Boyle of St. Michael’s Ward, where CODE Coventry is located, said:

“CODE Coventry is a very impressive building and I’m sure it will make a great base for Coventry University students. The rooms are well set up and I’m sure they will be very popular.”

“Students contribute to the economic success of our city and they are helping to make sure our city centre is vibrant day and night. Many students also choose to remain in the place they studied and having a base like this is certainly a very positive first experience.”
