Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager that will have overall responsibility for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, control and closure of a project. Our projects vary in value from £10m to in excess of £60m and are across a range of sectors including industrial, retail, Student Accommodation, Private rental schemes, offices, and industrial fit-out. Our Project Managers must have a combination of skills including an ability to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions and resolve conflicts, as well as excellent general management skills.

The Role

A Project Manager is a key figure of any Winvic team and will primarily be responsible for the overall success of delivering a project, reaching set targets both safely and to the right quality standards on time and on budget. Overseeing the contract administration and safety management reporting into the Operations Manager.

Our Project Managers oversee all aspects of any development and manage their team of Design Mangers, Planners, Commercial managers and the Site Team; so, excellent communication skills are an essential attribute which is most certainly required. To overcome certain tasks, project managers must show initiative and be able to find ways to adapt and manage a situation to provide a successful outcome to any overall critical path and delivery of the project.

The successful candidate will be expected to support the development of leadership within the site team. They will need to organise the team in the most effective way possible to complete the project, whilst training and teaching the employees towards the company’s core values. Encouragement of excellence and quality in work will lead to a great reputation amongst clients, and within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan the delivery of the project at hand.
  • Main point of contact for the Client team.
  • Responsible for overall management of programming.
  • Oversee the management of the day-to-day working on site.
  • Report progress on projects, including financial reporting with assistance of the team.
  • To direct the necessary labour, plant, staff and equipment to achieve project completion on time, to specification and within budget.
  • Monitor that the Site and Engineering Team order the correct materials and sub-contract services in good time to meet contract objectives.
  • Oversee the Daily supervision and co-ordination of on-site staff, sub-contractors, plant and materials including Information management / meticulous record keeping of all relevant paperwork.
  • Manage site teams by monitoring performance against contract targets and instigating any necessary corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Group Safety Policy and Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Maintain strict quality control procedures, conduct regular site safety checks, Tool box talks and inductions.
  • Ensure that staff and operatives are managed and led effectively by developing the skills and attitudes of managers leading to provision of a working environment that engenders high morale.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have experience working on at least one of the sectors Winvic operate in, as well as in the management of H&S.
  • Applicants will ideally have experience of managing all aspects of the build process as well as up to date knowledge of health and safety obligations and building legislation
  • SMSTS and First Aid at Work
  • Good IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong team leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to think ahead

Site Manager

Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will need to be able to lead and work within a team to enable the success of our projects. As a Site Manager you will provide essential support for new sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Civils Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are looking for an ambitious experienced Civils Biased Quantity Surveyor to join our successful team at Winvic Construction, a multi-disciplinary main contractor based in the midlands that excels in the delivery of construction projects on a national scale.

Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager the successful candidate will need to be able to lead and work within a team to enable the success of our projects ranging from £5m to in excess of £60 million.

The role:

  • Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Attend post tender and pre-contract meetings.
  • Reviewing of contract documents to ensure that the company is protected at all times.
  • Issue sub-contract tender packages and undertake contractual evaluation of the tender.
  • Manage our established list of supply chain sub-contractors.
  • Assess contract risk and work with the site team to develop and manage mitigation plans.
  • Attend internal and external commercial review meetings.
  • Submission of client valuations and management of the variation account.
  • Manage the commercial aspects of the contract
  • Management of subcontract accounts from procurement to final account.
  • Preparation and assistance with the evaluation and submission of claims for variation works.
  • Manage commercial performance against business targets.
  • Ensure that the group commercial policies are adhered to and that legislations are met.

Requirements:

  • Have a degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Have experience managing your own projects or schemes.
  • Have experience working on Civils projects valued above £10m and running and mentoring a QS team
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages, including Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrate a high level of construction knowledge

Estimator

We are looking for an enthusiastic Estimator to join our successful team winning work for Winvic Construction, a multi-disciplinary main contractor that excels in the delivery of construction projects on a national scale.

Reporting to the Managing Estimator, the successful candidate will be responsible for tenders, 2 stage projects and cost plans; all tenders are Design and Build. Our projects vary in value from £10m to in excess of £60m and are across a range of sectors including industrial, retail, student accommodation, private rental schemes, offices, and industrial fit out.

Other duties will involve but not be limited to:

  • Manage the tender from receipt, through to submission and post tender queries.
  • Liaise with and manage the internal and external tender team
  • Mark up enquiries to be sent out to the supply chain, organise Bills Of Quantities production and obtain material quotes where necessary
  • Evaluate returned quotations from supply chain and liaise with supply chain member to bring quotations in line with the project specification requirements
  • Prepare and evaluate risk and opportunity
  • Arrange and prepare commercial documents for Tender Handover meetings
  • Review supply chain performance quarterly
  • Attend pre qualification, mid tender and post tender interviews
  • Visit sites to obtain feedback
  • Prepare cost plans, feasibility studies and liaise with Clients

Skills and Experience required:

  • An industry applicable ONC/HNC B Eng, NVQ or equivalent experience
  • Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of planning and construction activities.
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Microsoft Project.
  • You will be able to demonstrate a high level of construction knowledge

Site Based and reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Engineering on a busy site. Our projects vary in value from £10m to in excess of £60m and are across a range of sectors including industrial, Civil Engineering, retail, student accommodation, private rental schemes, offices, and industrial fit out.

Other duties will involve but not be limited to:

  • Sorting out initial setting out on sites
  • Liaising with the Tender Handover team and establishing ground models to fix levels
  • Value Engineering the design with the team looking a potential savings
  • Monitor the Engineering team ensuring quality is met
  • Take off and pricing of materials and ordering to site for use
  • Input into planning including short term maps
  • Inputs into site safety
  • Management of Sub Contractors
  • Material Reconciliations for bulk orders
  • Implementing new technology to speed up processes
  • Mentoring of junior Engineers
  • Inputs into site meetings

Skills and Experience required:

  • An industry applicable ONC/HNC B Eng, NVQ or equivalent experience
  • Good all round knowledge of multiple processes.
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • You will be able to demonstrate a high level of construction knowledge

Civil Engineering Placement
