Nottingham Fire and Rescue Conduct Training Exercises at Saffron Court, Nottingham

Posted on July 12, 2018 in Community engagement

When Winvic were approached by Luke Vere, Watch Manager at Nottingham Fire and Rescue, with the request to conduct a simulated rescue on our eight storey multi-room site at Saffron Court, Nottingham, we jumped at the opportunity to assist the neighbouring service.

Saffron Court is where we are working with developer Cassidy Group and real estate asset manager Cording to deliver a high quality PRS development,  incorporating a mix of 350 privately owned, one and two-bed studio apartments over eight storeys, located on the former Hicking Pentecost site in Nottingham city-centre.

On the evening of Friday 25th June, a simulated rescue took place to save a dummy which was lowered off the steel construction onto the site floor, to mimic a fall from height. To access and rescue the dummy an aerial ladder platform was placed on Eugene Street to facilitate entry to the steel framed construction.

Despite having to rush off to a fire call, the crew completed their training; Luke Vere who organised the exercise said “I would like to thank all the staff at Winvic for hosting us and allowing us to use the site. We were able to successfully complete a rescue using our rope rescue equipment and aerial ladder platform, so it proved a useful training exercise for us”
