Working with First Industrial and Gasrec, Winvic constructed the UK’s first ‘open access’ bio-LNG filling station at the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) to service dual fuel vehicles operating from DIRFT and surrounding area, with the capacity to re-fuel up to 700 vehicles per day.

An integrated base build and client fit-out project, Winvic provided:

  • Building work to enable specialist contractors to install tanks and pumps
  • Two fueling islands constructed in trief kerbing
  • Weather protection canopy over fueling area, including cladding and lighting
  • Fenced fuel storage area
  • Alarmed petrol/oil interceptor, required by the Environment Agency
  • All external yard areas and car park
  • Construction of site access and exit from the A5 and A428
  • 4,800m2 of concrete hardstandings
  • Difficult ground conditions required lime stabilisation
  • New drainage and attenuation technology utilised
