As a Planet Positive™ company, Winvic is at the heart of the sustainable construction debate. We are founder members of dcarbon8, which helps companies to identify and reduce the carbon footprints of their operations and activities as well as their products and supply chain.

The environmental system is audited internally on a frequent basis on each site. Winvic takes this issue seriously and has engaged companies such dcarbon8 to help reduce our carbon footprint, we use a waste removal company called Go Green that recycles over 80% of our construction waste. We have also employed a cabin supplier which incorporates energy efficient technologies into the cabins such as timer clocks, PIRs, double glazing and additional wall, floor, and ceiling insulation to retain heat.

Following our recent ISO 14001 accreditation we have now turned our attention to formalising our Sustainability Policy which includes our commitment to sustainable procurement. The sourcing of environmentally friendly materials starts with the design team and the materials they specify. We are obviously aware of the published list on banned materials and these are passed to our suppliers. We will, through the expertise and knowledge of our Design Managers, advise the design team when we are aware of a more environmentally friendly alternative. Our Design Managers also use the BRE Green Guide to aid in their choice of materials, to maximise the available BREEAM assessment points.By careful choice of our supply chain members we are able to have a greater influence on the amount of recyclable materials that are incorporated in to our construction projects. The use of these materials can help with the BREEAM assessment.
