BREEAM Excellent has been achieved at six of our recent projects. All these developments were contracted to provide BREEAM Very Good. Winvic's commitment to innovation in sustainable construction has enabled us to exceed our clients’ expectations. To embrace sustainable development, we have encouraged our staff to undertake BREEAM assessor courses and have one qualified assessor and two more due to complete later this year.

Winvic strives towards best practice standards in every aspect of our construction delivery, a few areas we target include energy efficiency, elimination of waste, our relationship with suppliers and customers, continuous improvement of our standard details and training our people as BREEAM and SBEM qualified assessors.

We have been involved in many projects where renewable energy sources have been used such as:

• Wood chip burners providing 100% of the heating load for water and air systems
• Ground source and air source heat exchangers linking to under floor heating and general water heating systems
• Wind turbines supplementing electrical requirements
• Combined heat and power systems
• North Lights: 13% carbon reduction by increasing natural daylight
• Minimised air leakage: 15% carbon reduction by reducing air leakage to 3m3/hr/m2 at 50 Pa
• Prefabrication: By manufacturing construction items off-site, waste is reduced and results in a higher standard of construction, reducing air leakage. Reduction in embodied energy 30% a year
