WINVIC HELP ORCHARD PRIMARY SCHOOL WITH THEIR SPRING CLEANING

Posted on April 18, 2019 in Community engagement

Winvic’s site team at Plot 1, East Midlands Distribution Centre located in Castle Donington, are busy constructing a new speculative 521,000 sq ft Regional Distribution Centre for client Panattoni, but they have taken time out of their busy schedule to help Orchard Community Primary School with a bit of spring cleaning.

Winvic teamed up with Ward who specialise in recycling, and together they provided a skip, cleared unwanted items from the school playground and built a new shed and gate for the school.  But what excited the children most, was the 30 Easter Eggs donated for the end of term school raffle and the 10 sets of children’s personal protective equipment (PPE), which will be used for role play and dress-up. Who knows, maybe it will inspire the next generation of Project Managers, Engineers and Health and Safety Executives?

But the hard work doesn’t stop there; more work will be taking place over the summer to tidy up the school’s wildlife pond.

Fiona Shields Headteacher of Orchard Community Primary School remarked “We are exceptionally grateful to the Winvic Construction Team currently based in Castle Donington for their very generous donation to the school of both their time and resources … putting up sheds, building a new fence, removing a rotten trim trail, donating gravel for the gardening area, providing  mini-builders’ construction equipment, high viz vests and hard-hats for pupils in the Foundation Stage … the list is endless.

When we mentioned that we were keen to enhance our school grounds provision, without hesitation, Winvic agreed to help us with this work. Without their support, we couldn’t possibly have managed to have completed many jobs from the project so quickly. Moreover, their generosity has saved us a huge amount of money.

We would also like to extend our thanks to ‘Wards’ for donating a skip to enable us to clear a huge amount of our garden waste – again, this was organsied through Winvic.”

Ben Shearman Operations Manager for Winvic commented “As a partner of the Considerate Constructors Scheme we enjoy giving back to the local community as part of our role on site, but we are also aware that this type of work also improves the image of construction and promotes the different roles on site to the next generation, who may consider joining the industry in years to come. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Orchard Community Primary School and look forward to helping them with future improvements to the school during the summer.”
