WINVIC SIGNS ANNUAL ARMED FORCES COVENANT PLEDGE

Posted on August 27, 2019 in Careers and employment

On 31st July 2019, Winvic Construction Ltd signed our annual pledge to uphold the Armed Forces Covenant to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to supporting serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families as they transition into civilian life.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly in the workplace. As part of the covenant Winvic will commit to support the Armed Forces Community and will endeavour to uphold the key principles, which are:

  • no member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen
  • in some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate especially for the injured or bereaved.

As an Armed Forces friendly organisation Winvic recognise the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families can bring to our business as well as our country. We will continue to demonstrate our commitment to upholding the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, by:

  • promoting the fact that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation,
  • Reserves: seeking to support our employees who are members of the Reserve Forces, including granting special paid/unpaid leave for training and supporting deployment;
  • Cadet Organisations: seeking to support our employees who are volunteer leaders in military cadet organisations; supporting local cadet units.
  • Armed Forces Day: aiming to participate actively in Armed Forces Day and Reserves Day,·

Winvic Construction Ltd’s Technical Director Tim Reeve said “Winvic has a long and proud tradition of working with our armed forces and we are therefore delighted to recommit to uphold the Armed Forces Covenant to support ex-service personnel in finding jobs in construction. With our continued growth we need to meet current and future demand by attracting and retaining the best talent and by engaging with the Armed Forces community we will have the opportunity to benefit from a valuable and highly transferable skillset whilst providing opportunities for this community to thrive as they transition into the workplace.”
