Winvic experience inspires Tom to switch from English to engineering

Posted on March 11, 2022 in A year in industry - 2021-2022 cohort

In our fifth vlog featuring this year’s cohort of Year In Industry students for National Careers Week 2022, we meet Trainee Site Engineer, Tom. It’s not the first time Tom has been with us, or the second – he has worked on a Winvic site gaining work experience for two summers. In fact, he was set to study English but being exposed to the different construction careers on offer, he changed his degree and hasn’t looked back.

Tom’s located at Mercia Park, where we’re building Jaguar Land Rover’s 2.94 million square foot facility for client IM Properties. Watch the video below to hear about the scheme and the type of activities that Tom is tasked with, that he finds exciting. We did much of the filming in our on-site Sustainability and Innovation Hub and you should be able to spot Digital Engineering Manager, Morgan. Read his blog from November here where he explains how the facility helps accelerate productivity, promotes one-team collaboration and inspires our team and clients to take proactive climate action.
