We are in unprecedented times and we are taking action to help protect people and slow the spread of COVID-19. Nothing is more important.
Government advice is unclear for many, with conflicting messages. We are very clear that social distancing is the key to safety, alongside measures for travel to and from site where work cannot be undertaken at home.
Our support for the NHS in their frontline fight against Coronavirus, as well as that of key workers and safety of our site teams is paramount.
We feel we must act now and take the morally responsible decision to suspend works on our sites.
As of close of business today we will begin safe and secure temporary shutdown procedures, these may require site attendance over a short period to maintain the integrity of the sites and ensure the workforce can undertake prompt and safe continuation of works as soon as we are able to do so.
This decision will be under continuous review over the coming period.
