From economics to engineering, Toby’s site placement confirms he chose the right career

Posted on March 16, 2022 in A year in industry - 2021-2022 cohort

IM Properties’ scheme, Peddimore, in Minworth near Sutton Coldfield is the home of another one of the Year In Industry students that we recently caught up with. Toby started his higher education journey studying an economics degree but when he realised it wasn’t for him, he switched to construction management.

He tells us about the civils and infrastructure scheme and what tasks he does day-to-day as a Trainee Site Engineer, as well as what it was like to work at the DIRFT III rail infrastructure project between September and December.

If you enjoy Toby’s story, you might like to read more from the engineering team at Peddimore – Maddie is one of our apprentices, on site four days a week, and she recently told us about her experience. Plus, you might have spotted Hollie in Toby’s video, who was part of our 2019/20 Year In Industry cohort. Hollie finished her degree and came back to become part of our team full time – you can read her blog from June 2020 here.
